"Ask Adonai for rain in the spring,.." Zch 10:1
"I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys. I will turn the
desert into
pools of water, and the parched
ground into springs. I will put in the
desert
the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the
olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the
fir and the cypress
together, so that people
may see and know, may consider and understand,
that the hand of Adonai has done this, that
the Holy One of Israel
has created it." Isa 41:18-20
THIS INFORMATION IS ADDED TO HELP YOU PRAY FOR RAIN
Israel has two major water sources, the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) and its two major underground aquifers. All these fresh water sources are supplied and
replenished by the annual winter and spring rains. The Kinneret is the nation's natural water reservoir and its water level
is the critical indicator of the total water supply.
Without
adequate water crops and industry will fail, and the people will perish. Israel has been in drought with annual rain fall
totals well below its requirements. The Kinneret has been at crisis levels during portions of each year since 2008 (see graph
below). At these levels there are grave concerns for the health of the lake and some worry that the Kinneret may turn brackish
if the drought continues.
Last spring (2011) was wet in the north and rains continued well into the dry season. The Kinneret gained a bit beyond
the previous year. Never the less, its level was still more than one foot below the 2008 spring high-water mark. (In 2008
the Kinneret dropped nearly 6 feet from its March high water mark by the fall).
Pray for abundant rain as the late rains begin.... this past summer's and fall's usage has drawn the lake down
to dangerous levels yet again.

The table of Kinneret observations has been moved. It has been replaced with
a "current observation" only shown in a window with a ducky like the one below.
